ISLAND STORIES & MEMORIES

Patty Fazio (former Lowell St. resident)I recently received information on your organization and it's great to remember all the fun at PI... I lived nearby and have old family slides, somewhere, of visits we made to the park. My sister spent one summer as a "shutterbug." References to "never paid to get in" and "under the fence" made me laugh. I noticed there are emails asking about Moby... there was a man who lived on Lowell Street trying to pull Moby out of the swamp back in the late 70's/early 80's... don't remember his first name, but his last name was "Jensen." His son, Barry, last I knew, lived in Medford. I believe the dad was successful in pulling one of the sharks out of the swamp... all this was documented in the Daily Item. They told of the technology used to make Moby come up out of the water, etc. Over the years, much of the park was destroyed by numerous fires and many of the artifacts may have been destroyed in those fires. Hopefully, word will get around to enough people that might have such memorabilia tucked away somewhere. |
