I had six wonderful years working at Pleasure Island. I started as a Pirate Boat Operator, and then went on to do many other things, including park character. But, I could never get that narrator's spiel out of my mind. Thirty-three years later, after a twenty-five year career in law enforcement, I obtained a Coast Guard Captain's license, and started working on some tour boats. When I worked in Essex, MA on the Essex River Cruise tours several years ago, I was required to operate and narrate. Almost INSTANTLY, the spiel came back, and I was saying "Welcome aboard Matey's" and "We're passing by Sharkbait Shoals, the most dangerous waters this side of the Pleasure Island rest rooms". I hope that I never lose the memory.
