LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS? -- Youngsters start huge water lift turning as they push the turntable at the Gold Panning Operation at Pleasure Island in Wakefield. The lift pours water into the sluice boxes where visitors actually find gold in the soil they panned. The big Park is now open seven days a week. |

Postcard:
GOLD PAN GULCH AT PLEASURE ISLAND
"A rustic section at Pleasure Island traces the western movement of early New Englanders. Gun fights are frequent. Stage coaches, covered wagons, buckboards, surreys and a live steam railroad carry visitors into the romantic West. Diamond Lil's Saloon (soft drinks only), the Chisholm Trail, a gold mining operation for guests, and even a newspaper office are popular attractions." |
